Want to see the most ornate, detailed small bathroom project we have ever completed? You are in the right place! This is part 3 of this series where we feature elements of a luxury brownstone project in Carmel and, aside from the continued phenomenal visuals, we answer these critical questions. What is 70% of a home remodeling project? How do you adapt when you have a custom tile floor that needs a change made? How long does it take to do tile floor to ceiling throughout a small bathroom space? What is the greatest benefit of having an effective designer involved in a project? So many questions once again… and here are more answers as we continue to demystify the remodeling process.
When you remodel any bathroom that has detailed elements to be featured, these elements must be planned for… but even with the best of intentions, there are times when you must be able to pivot and solve problems on the fly to identify the ideal solution. This particular bathroom is probably the most visually demonstrative example. If you are able, you really should click on the link and watch this video in order to get the best understanding of how challenges are met with solutions in a very detailed bathroom project… maybe the most detailed bathroom project we have ever engaged in. They say great things come in small packages and this our best example of that!
What is 70% of home remodeling?
Problem solving. Plain and simple. From the very beginning, the entire project is a problem that needs to be solved. Changing a space from “what was” to “what will be” is a puzzle and you need critical thinking skills to overcome the obstacles put in front of you.
How do you alter a custom tile design ordered specifically to be installed in a certain pattern?
You alter it very carefully! In our case, we had to take extra small pieces provided and patch in the existing pattern where possible (even slightly altering the pattern ever so slightly to make everything work) so that nobody would ever know a change was made. Most importantly, we worked to proactively identify a solution that would work instead of focusing only on the problems we had.
How long does it take to install tile floor to ceiling in a small footprint?
In this project, the tile took about 2-1/2 weeks to install from start to finish… and there was a lot of tile!
What is the greatest benefit to having an effective designer involved in your project?
The carpenters and remodeling experts can see exactly what the plan and intent is for the project and bring the vision to life. They can see where the vanity aligns with the mirror and sconces and the visuals make sense of the details for all parties involved – the client, the remodeler and the designer! You cannot underestimate the need for an abundance of detail as those details bring clarity to the project.
