    Monday Motivation (Kind Gestures)

    Hello everyone.

    Welcome to your year!

I hope your holidays were wonderful and you were able to enjoy time with family and friends.  It's interesting to me to observe how people act around the holidays.  Did you have to make any last minute trips out to get anything?  If so, did you happen to observe the craziness that the holidays brings out in people.  I saw it everywhere.  People driving crazy.  People acting like fools in line with no patience.  Seeing those things made me appreciate the story I read last week about Miami Dolphins football player Walt Aikens.  He made a quick trip to Walmart on Christmas Eve to grab a few things, too.  He didn't grab a cart, but he did have an armful of wrapping paper and other things.  By the time he was done shopping, he was struggling to hold it all.  In line, an elderly lady behind him offered her cart to rest his things.  He resisted her offer at first, then decided he would accept her kind gesture.

Walt couldn't help but notice the baby clothes and ingredients for cookies in her cart, so he showed his appreciation for her help by paying for all of the items in her cart when it became his turn to pay.

So, if you are counting, we are up to 2 kind gestures.

After Walt paid for her things, she simply asked for his address so she could send him some cookies.  Low and behold, a few days later, a strange package showed up and guess what it was?  Yes, the cookies she promised... along with a very sweet hand written note.  That would be kind gesture number 3.

Aikens responded by saying that his parents raised him to have manners and her sending those cookies made his day.  He said it showed him that being kind to others can do and he was honored that she carried out what she said she would do.

And, so he said thank you to her.

That would be kind gesture number 4.  A simple thank you!

I hope this brief story motivates you to do something nice for someone else this week.

    Have a great week everyone!

"Lifestyle demolished the existing kitchen and put in a new kitchen, including flooring, cabinets, sink, electric, lighting, counter tops and new island. The contractor, designer and workers were very friendly, responsive and open to making changes as needed. Also, they cleaned up after themselves each day so I did not have dust and clutter from the construction everywhere. The quality of the work was excellent and we have a year-long warranty on all of the work and products. I will definitely use them again."
